What is Destination Disaster®?

An exercise that feels nothing like a meeting.

Ascenttra has specialized in HSEEP exercise design, conduct, and evaluation since 2007 — developing hundreds of exercises across virtually every hazard type. Games are a unique style of discussion-based exercise because they allow scenario environments to change based on player actions and decision-making.

Well-crafted games also allow examination of decision points by enabling facilitators to "rewind" and explore the consequences of decisions in a safe, controlled environment. Unlike games that only seek to familiarize participants with preparedness concepts, a Destination Disaster® session produces relevant and actionable findings specific to your organization.

While other emergency management games stop at awareness, Destination Disaster® validates your actual plans, policies, and procedures — and produces corrective actions you can act on.

Validates plans, policies, and procedures

Every game is built around your actual SOPs, not generic scenarios. Findings are directly applicable to your organization's preparedness posture.

Real-time lessons learned

Capture strengths and areas for improvement during play — not weeks later. The AAR template is included and ready to complete before participants leave the room.

Rewindable and replayable

Explore "what-if" decisions by rewinding scenarios. Replay with a different scenario pack. Your investment compounds with every session.

Meets accreditation & HSEEP requirements

Designed to satisfy discussion-based exercise requirements for healthcare accreditation, grant compliance, and HSEEP programs.

The series

Three games. One system. Endlessly combinable.

Each game in the series is purpose-built for a specific function and audience — and all three are compatible with each other, allowing multi-function exercises that simulate real-world interactions across first responders, EOC staff, and hospital teams simultaneously.

Interoperability

Play one. Or play all three together.

Each game works independently as a complete exercise for its audience. But the real power of the Destination Disaster® series is interoperability — all three games connect, allowing simultaneous multi-function exercises that simulate real-world interactions between field responders, the EOC, and hospital operations.

When combined, participants experience the dynamic flow of information, resources, and patients across functions the way it actually happens during a real incident — not in isolation. No other tabletop product on the market offers this.

Why Destination Disaster®?

More than familiarity. Actual improvement.

Most emergency management games only seek to orient participants to preparedness concepts. Destination Disaster® goes further — producing actionable findings grounded in your organization's actual plans.

Rewindable & replayable

Explore the consequences of decisions by rewinding scenarios. Try different approaches. Build a deeper understanding of how your procedures hold up under pressure — without real-world consequences.

Customized to your organization

Every game is built around your resources, your maps or floor plans, your policies, and your hazard profile. The EEGs are aligned to your actual SOPs — not generic checklists.

90-minute complete exercise

A full HSEEP-aligned discussion-based exercise in 90 minutes. No multi-day planning cycle. No facility logistics. Deliver real preparedness value without overwhelming your schedule or budget.

Accessible at every level

Designed for participants from first responder to senior leader — no prior exercise experience required. The game structure guides discussion and keeps all players engaged.

AAR & EEGs included and ready

Every game includes customized Exercise Evaluation Guides (EEGs) aligned to your SOPs and a ready-to-use After-Action Report template — so findings are captured during play and the AAR can be completed before participants leave the room.

Additional scenario packs

Each game comes with one customized scenario. Additional scenario packs can be purchased separately — so your game grows with your exercise program.
